Newmarket Auto Insurance Broker

Newmarket is a city in Southern Ontario, Canada. Newmarket is part of the Greater Toronto Area and the Golden Horseshoe, an urban agglomeration. The city has a population of 71,497 (2016), and its census agglomeration had a population of 99,903 residents in the 2011 census. It is located about 45 kilometres north of Downtown Toronto.

Newmarket is a planned community; Frederick Gage Todd laid out its town centre in 1819. Originally named Salem, it was renamed Newmarket two years later to commemorate the site of the Battle of Newmarket, fought on April 1650 during the Second English Civil War. David Thompson later established a mill at the mouth of the Rouge River to take advantage of the water power available at this location; this was followed by other mills operated by members of his family or their business associates. The area developed slowly due to its lack of good roads or transportation routes but became more accessible with a road constructed between York and Toronto in 1801. But today, this is no longer the case. The city is as connected as ever!

Newmarket Collision Reporting and Claims Process

Accidents are unfortunately fairly common occurrences in the GTA. If you can successfully avoid getting into an accident your entire driving career, you are among a small fraction of people. Knowing what to do and how to report an accident is critical knowledge; this is isure’s Newmarket-specific collision reporting guide:

1. Medical emergencies come first

Before you can take any other steps, make sure you have checked for any injuries. If there are, call 911 immediately. After any injuries are dealt with, you can move onto the next steps in accident management.

2. Take pictures of everything

Snapping photos is a great way to detail specifics without writing too much down at once. When it comes to accidents, this can simplify and speed up the reporting process. Documenting accidents with photos is also convenient, seeing as the majority of people have cellphones to snap quick pictures with.

  • Damage

Take pictures of any damage done by the collision to all vehicles. Having a record of all the vehicles involved acts as a non-biased recollection of accident damage. It also prevents claims of further vehicle body damage.

  • Licenses

Snapping a quick pic of a driver’s license is a fast and efficient way to collect a lot of information that will be important to an accident report. Offer your own license for a photo to simplify the process, as well as a contact number to make future conversations about the incident easier.

  • Insurance

Trading insurance information is vital to proceeding with insurance claims. If you don’t exchange insurance, the process may be dragged out further.

  • Conditions

Make sure there is some kind of record of the date, time, and location of the accident. You can make a special note of unique weather conditions if you think they had a specific impact on the accident.

3. When is it necessary to report

Once you collect all of the required information, you can determine whether or not it is necessary to file a report. The Ontario law states that any damages totaling more than $2,000 need to be formally reported to a collision reporting centre within 24 hours of the accident.

4. Reporting an accident in Newmarket

To report an accident in Newmarket, the closest collision reporting centre is in Richmond Hill, open from 8 am to 8 pm every day of the week.

10720 Yonge St., Richmond Hill

Call 1-866-876-5423 to be assigned a report number, which will simplify the reporting process

To get to the collision centre from the accident location, you should take a taxi or have a friend drive in order to avoid operating a potentially dangerous vehicle. While a friend drives you, you can have a tow truck take your car to the collision reporting centre.
