FAQs
About Orangeville Auto Insurance

What factors affect auto insurance in Orangeville?

Vehicle Type: The year, make and model of your vehicle will be considered by auto insurance companies when calculating the premium.

Vehicle Use: The way you drive your vehicle, how often and your driving habits can all play a role in the insurance rate you will pay.

Postal Code: The more populated, urban areas in Orangeville often have a higher claim rate than rural parts. Urban residents can likely expect to pay a higher premium based on their postal code.

The Driver’s Age: Drivers with more experience on the road often pay much lower auto insurance premiums than newer and younger drivers.

How can you lower the cost of your car insurance in Orangeville?
Anti-theft Devices: Any equipment or tools that can help prevent theft to your vehicle can lower your insurance premium.

Winter Tires: The winters in Orangeville can see a lot of snowfall and makes it hard to drive in every day as you commute to work! Not only is it imperative for your safety to have winter tires installed in the winter months, but you are often eligible for discounts on insurance premiums when your car has winter tires.

Orangeville Collision Reporting and Claims Process

Even when you drive with the most care, you may still get into a car accident. Car accidents have a chance of happening each and every day that you get into your car. Being prepared means knowing how to deal with these accidents – this is isure’s accident reporting guide for Orangeville residents:

1. Medical and injury reporting

Addressing an accident properly means attending to any medical injuries before your vehicles. Call 911 immediately if anyone looks or feels injured. Once you have done this, you can continue with any of the following steps.

2. Taking pictures and making records

Taking a few quick pictures of the scene of an accident can save you hours later on trying to round up information. There are four main items you will want to photograph or make a record of:

  • Damages

Take pictures of any of the damage to all vehicles so there is a record of what damage happened on-site. Images have a way of telling a story without the use of words and may be helpful to insurance adjusters and collision centre employees. Finally, images are great to have for your own personal record.

  • License

You will need to provide your license information to the other drivers involved in the accident, and they will need to give you their information, as well. A quick way to both provide and obtain driver’s license information is with a photo. Also, take this time to grab the contact number of other drivers.

  • Insurance

Exchanging insurance is required following an accident, which can be done very easily with a picture. The information you should obtain includes the policy number and insurance provider, as well as the make, year, and model of the cars involved.

  • Conditions

Finally, jot down the conditions of the accident. That includes the location, the time, the date, the weather, and the road conditions. This provides a very clear image for an insurance adjuster or, if need be, a court of law.

3. Do you need to report to a collision centre?

No one longs to report to a collision centre; in fact, people actively avoid reporting accidents. But when is this okay and when is reporting necessary? You don’t need to report accidents where the total damage is less than $2,000 (i.e. scrapes or broken tail lights.) Any damaged bumpers or doors will likely exceed $2,000 on their own, which means you need to report this type of damage, by law, within 24 hours.

4. Reporting to a collision centre

Reporting to a collision centre requires you to bring yourself, your vehicle, and information from the crash. You and your car should not come together because it may be unsafe to drive your vehicle after an accident. Driving your car after is a risk so instead, opt for a tow truck and a taxi. Paying the extra money for a tow truck and a taxi can save you even more if you get into another accident or further damage the vehicle. At the collision centre, you will fill in an accident report form and a staff member will evaluate the damage. A report will be sent to your insurance to help you file a claim and receive policy funds. Below is the closest collision centre for Orangeville residents:

113 Toryork Drive, NORTH YORK, M9L 1X9

Tel: (416) 745-1600

Fax: (416) 745-1606

Hours: COVID-19 HOURS: Mon – Fri: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Weekends: 11 AM – 7 PM

What does insurance cover?

Insurance typically covers repairs, replacements, and rentals. However, some policies will even reimburse you for towing and taxi costs. Speak with an isure broker about your policy details so that you are informed of what your insurance covers.
